Quicksand is from the more melodic side of Rifftera's repertoire, although it doesn't avoid going into the band's common heavy riffing either.
Mikko Kuoppamaa, band's guitarist and vocalist, gives some insight about the song; "Quicksand is one of the few songs in which I have been involved heavily composing-wise and therefore it is an important song for me. The basic building blocks have been around for way too many years and now finally it has all the parts to form a fully functioning song – thanks to Janne (Hietala, band's other guitarist & vocalist).
I need to point out my own affection to Soilwork's material from the early 2000's. It's possible to notice some nods to that direction from the verse and chorus of Quicksand."
